"Purge is an album created during a time of reflection, recovery and listening following a severe brain and skull in injury in December 2017. Following my discharge from hospital whilst recovering physically I was also given time to reflect and face difficulties in the quiet of the north west of England.

Focused, delicate and repetitive methods of improvising and composing these pieces were a part of my recovery both mentally and physically. The process began with me needing to be still and quiet sonically and physically but as my health improved I could tolerate and work with distorted patterns, hiss and thuds. The album was created using digital piano, field recordings, radio and effects.

The album is part of a continuing process of creating sound as therapy and a distraction for coping with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. The album and track titles refer to thoughts, experiences and reflections of my health during those four months in recovery."

Left Hand Cuts off the Right (Robbie Judkins) is an outlet for exploratory methods and composition. During live performances he plays with bent electronics, East African instrumentation, hand percussion, field recordings, loops and effects. The sounds are of otherworldliness, twinkling twitchings, habitual drones, crackling rhythms and oddities directing you, transfixed, through the wonderment. Robbie is also the creator of Animal Sounds on Resonance FM which investigates how artists are using sound to explore human and non-human animal relationship and hosts Parallax View on 199Radio. In recent years he has created work that has been included at the Barbican Centre, Chelsea College of Art & Design, ICA, Cafe Oto, Whitechapel Gallery, NTS Radio and more.

Ufology is archaic prose by way of sound. It is not unlike a collection of unfiltered Brothers Grim stories, which in this case, revolve around UFO mythoses. Each passage unfolds much like folk tales told around the summer camp fire in some dense alpine forest, wearing your sense of speculation down the further you listen, until you finally start to look around your dark surroundings and up to the sky for what may or may not be there. fran3000
